How to handle the change between daylight saving time and standard time in Smartplan

When we switch between daylight saving time and standard time, it can affect night shifts since the working hours either become an hour shorter or longer. In Smartplan, employees' working hours are automatically adjusted, but let’s look at how this is registered.

What happens in Smartplan when changing between daylight saving time and standard time?

From standard time to daylight saving time:

When we switch from standard time to daylight saving time (the last Sunday in March), the clock is set forward one hour. This means that employees working a night shift, such as a 12-hour shift from 23:00 to 11:00, are only registered for 11 hours of work.

From daylight saving time to standard time:

When switching from daylight saving time back to standard time (the last Sunday in October), the clock is set back one hour. For employees on a night shift, this means they work an extra hour. A 12-hour shift from 23:00 to 11:00 is therefore registered as 13 working hours.

Can we adjust working hours in Smartplan?

Yes, you can manually adjust working hours in Smartplan if there is a need to modify the shift, such as by adding or removing an hour. In the "Hours & Salary" section, simply click on the time in the "Changes to attended time" column, and you can adjust the working hours as you wish.
